This week
This week I spent a lot of time catching up on missing work, guilty as charged, and finally got a good chance to go through our textbook and reread the earlier chapters and highlight them- this week I had gone through chapters 8-9 and took away quite a bit of information.
The key things I took away from these segments of the book was-
- How to communicate with posters
- Structure throughout a piece
Posters- Ch9
In this chapter many things about versatile communication were discussed, and interestingly so it also had many callbacks to previous chapters, including color importance, use of grids, composition, typography, ect.
But it also had some new things to include, like how communication makes a piece, how to make a well rounded poster, how there can be different intentions involved (like propaganda).
I wanted to include one of my favorite posters that helped me retain what I was learning, it is a bit of light hearted propaganda.
Structure- Ch8
Because our project last week was magazine related, the content in chapter 8 helped immensely- It broke down different types of structures for different media, the main two in this chapter was brochures and magazines.
Throughout this chapter I learned about the Fibonacci sequence, rule of thirds, and grid- that is not only used for images and photography but also is helpful to structuring your information and icons to make it more readable to the viewer digesting the information you are giving them.
For a slight through back here is the magazine cover I had designed for the project- based off of previous USA Hockey covers.
